Art, Technique and Business of Acting

Anna Scher Theatre is a performing arts school based in Islington, London, which was founded by Anna Scher, and at the time she ran the classes.

We offer unique and bespoke training in Musical Theatre aimed at students (aged 15-25yrs) wishing to excel in singing, dancing and acting. All classes take place in the evening (Mon & Thu) - allowing students to continue at school or in employment during the daytime. There is a strong focus on audition technique ensuring that students are at optimum readiness for gaining entry onto full time drama school and musical theatre courses. It is also suited for anyone with a desire for improving their technique and core skills.

Bath Theatre School is the only school in the area to offer nationally recognised musical theatre qualifications from Trinity College London as part of our standard teaching – this means ALL students have the opportunity to take these exams at no extra cost. Other schools either do not offer a nationally recognised learning programme which builds towards musical theatre qualifications, or it is only made available at a considerable extra cost in addition to the normal terms fees. Yet, when you consider we also offer the most comprehensive range of opportunities – we are also the best value for money kids theatre school in Bath.

The BA (Hons) Music & Sound for Film & Game course is for composers, producers, and sound creatives who want to work in screen media, interactive storytelling, and immersive entertainment. You’ll develop the creative, technical, and collaborative skills needed to produce original music and sound for film, TV, games, and beyond. You’ll explore key areas of practice, including scoring, sound design, location recording, Foley, and middleware integration. From cinematic orchestration to experimental textures, the course supports a wide range of creative approaches. You’ll work on briefs that mirror industry workflows, gaining experience in composing to picture, crafting sound for narrative impact, and developing ideas that enhance story, character, and emotion. Optional modules in Years 2 and 3 allow you to specialise or diversify across areas such as post-production, immersive audio, commercial music, and interactive performance technologies. You’ll also collaborate with students from across our specialist music degrees, including composers, producers, and technologists, building a network that reflects the creative industries. Whether you’re aiming to compose for games, score short films, or explore audio for virtual worlds, this course gives you the tools, insight, and flexibility to shape your own professional path.
